GLAUCOMA & ANTERIOR SEGMENT SPECIALIST

Dr. Mohammad Hamid

A native of Montreal, Dr. Hamid is passionate about learning and has always been an exceptional student, being at the top of his class throughout his academic career. He completed his medical degree at the University of Montreal with excellence, and then he specialized in ophthalmology, where he completed a five-year residency program at the University of Sherbrooke. He also served as Chief Resident, where he was then assigned the responsibility of teaching ophthalmology to his more junior colleagues.

Dr. Hamid also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in glaucoma and anterior segment surgery at the University of Montreal, and then specialized in refractive surgery. He gained his experience working with one of the most recognized refractive surgeons in Canada, Dr. Michel Podtetenev, and joined the Invisia and PreciVision Clinic in 2015.

Dr. Hamid has performed over 10,000 intraocular surgeries and over 5,000 laser eye surgeries. He has extensive knowledge in refractive cataract surgery and specializes in complicated cases. He is the 2nd ophthalmologist to practice ReLEx SMILE in Quebec and 3rd in Canada. 

Dr Hamid is an active member of the ophthalmology community. He has had the opportunity to share his knowledge at some of the largest conferences in the industry such as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Glaucoma Society and the Canadian Glaucoma Society. He has published several peer-reviewed scientific articles, received several research grants for his work and continues to conduct clinical studies on the subject today.

Dr Hamid is a passionate teacher who regularly gives lectures to colleagues. He is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Sherbrooke where he trains residents of the University of Montreal and the University of Sherbrooke.

Dr. Renée Petrie

Dr. Renée Petrie, a proud Acadian by origin, completed her medical degree at the Université de Sherbrooke (Moncton campus) and specialized in ophthalmology at the same university. Since graduating in 2016, she has been practicing as a general ophthalmologist on Montreal’s South Shore, affiliated with Charles-Lemoyne Hospital. She treats various eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal diseases, with a particular interest in eyelid plastic surgery.

Dr. Phillip Esper

Dr. Philip Esper completed his medical degree and ophthalmology specialization at the Université de Sherbrooke. He also practices at Drummondville Hospital, Lac-Mégantic, as well as in private clinics. His varied practice focuses primarily on glaucoma and medical retina cases.

Dr. Cecile Thuong

Dr. Cécile Thuong-Cong earned her physiotherapy degree from the University of Ottawa in 2011. She then pursued her medical degree and ophthalmology specialization at the Université de Sherbrooke.

Dr. Thuong-Cong practices on Montreal’s South Shore, affiliated with the Haut-Richelieu Hospital in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. As a general ophthalmologist, she treats various eye conditions including glaucoma and retinal diseases. She also performs cataract surgery and various eyelid surgeries.

NEURO-OPHTHALMOLOGIST SPECIALIST

Dr. Leal Andre Louis Ferman

Dr. Leal completed his medical degree at the Université de Sherbrooke and then specialized in neurology. His varied practice includes treating conditions such as myasthenia gravis and multiple sclerosis. He also performs botulinum toxin injections for disorders like blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm.

Dr. Leal is a professor at both the Université de Sherbrooke and the Université de Montréal and regularly gives lectures to his colleagues.

Dr. Marie-Claude Robert

Dr. Marie-Claude Robert completed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Montreal and a specialty in cornea, external diseases, anterior segment, and refractive surgery at Harvard University.

Dr. Robert has received several prestigious prizes including the Harvard Alcon Scholar and the Claes Dohlman Fellowship prizes. She is affiliated with the CHUM and Sainte-Justine hospital where she teaches residents and fellows in ophthalmology. She is also the director of research in ophthalmology at the CHUM.

Dr. Mélissa Louis completed her residency in ophthalmology at Laval University in Quebec and a specialty in strabismus at McGill University. She also specializes in cataract surgery. She is actively involved in the training of resident physicians in ophthalmology.

Dre. Jessica El-Khazen Dupuis

Dre. Jessica El-Khazen Dupuis completed her Doctor of Medicine degree as well as her specialization in ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal. During her postgraduate training, she demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills as Chief Resident, and also received an honorable mention for her clinical commitment and involvement.

Dr. Jessica El-Khazen Dupuis devotes a major part of her practice as a general ophthalmologist in Montreal and on the South Shore, where she treats a variety of eye conditions and specializes in cataract surgery. She also has training in refractive surgery and works at the Invisia Clinic on Nuns' Island. She is among the few surgeons in Quebec with expertise in laser eye surgery, including Lasik and ReLEx SMILE. These skills allow her to offer a personalized and comprehensive approach to any patient seeking vision correction.

In her work, she is committed to providing the highest quality care. Her patients particularly appreciate her diligence, clear communication, and empathetic approach. She values a strong partnership between herself and her patients.

GENERAL OPHTHALMOLOGIST

Dr. Joseph Raymond Hakim

Dr. Hakim is a physician and ophthalmic surgeon with a particular interest in medical retina, glaucoma, cataract surgery including MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery), as well as laser eye procedures and treatments.

He is the Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Charles-LeMoyne Hospital, a university-affiliated center with the University of Sherbrooke. He also performs surgeries at the Dix30 Surgical Center of Clearpoint Health in Brossard, located on the South Shore of Montreal.

He completed his medical studies and ophthalmology specialization at the University of Montreal, training at CHUM, Maisonneuve-Rosemont, and Sainte-Justine hospitals. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Laval University and also holds a Master's degree from McGill University.

In addition to his passion for ophthalmology, Dr. Hakim is involved in several community and volunteer organizations in the Montérégie and Montreal areas. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis.
